Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can expect learning which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
